Meet Erick Rush

Meet Erick Rush, an upcoming artist. He is 30 years old and was born in Dar es Salaam. After he was born, he immediately began a life of traveling. First traveling to Tanzania and later immigrating to the United States. By Age 13 he had lived in 2 continents, 3 countries, and 7 cities and eventually settled in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The one thing that was always consistent in his life was music. Erick’s family loved music and his uncle’s often played hip hop for him while growing up. He began writing his own music at the age of 7. He gathered inspiration from the likes of Tupac, Nas, Rap-A-Lot & CashMoney Record. He eventually found his sound and decided to take music seriously.

Erick Rush is a Hip-Hop Artist at heart. It was his first genre, but as he developed as a musician he added elements of Jazz, Soul, Rock, R& into his style. He is clever when it comes to lyrics. He learned from artists like Tupac, Nas, and Drake that he can use his music to not only make people dance, but also to give them insight and new perspectives. He uses my music not only as a way to express himself, but also as a way to use real life situations to paint the picture of the human experience in its many forms.

His most successful track he collaborated with artists Nasty C called Swoosh. They have done around 3 or 4 songs together, which are all pretty successful. His other Successful songs are “Booted Up” and “Buss It.” ‘These tracks are very alive and upbeat songs that encourage good vibes. His album “Culture Shock” is his family’s story of immigration and overcoming adversity. Erick Rush uses skits and poetry to craft an album that is not only vulnerable, but speaks to opportunity and the black community. He has made Edmonton his home and has committed his life to lifting those around him. He works with kids at a group homes and he uses his platform to help kids in need of school supplies and has helped out families at christmas time.

Rush is inspired by Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Tupac, Jay Z, Nas, and Jay Electronica. He is really inspired by any artist that finds a way to express their story in a creative way. He is highly influenced by 90s R&B and 50s-60s Oldies Music.
